Training
Advanced UPRT
UPRT stands for aeroplane ‘upset prevention and recovery training’. As of the 20th December 2019, all newly qualified commercial pilots must now complete an Advanced UPRT course before commencing their first type rating. Although the training is tailored towards airline flying, this course is available to any pilot who wishes to develop their handling and airmanship skills. This course is completed in one of our Citabria aircraft.
Pre course requirements:
- This course is designed for newly qualified commercial pilots holding a CPL and IR
- This course is available to any pilots who hold a PPL licence
What does the training involve?
- 5 hours of theoretical knowledge instruction
- 3 hours of dual flight instruction
Flying Training
The course is designed to help pilots identify and recover from upset aircraft states which unintentionally exceed normal operating parameters. Students will learn to cope with the physiological and psychological effects of aircraft upsets, and how to apply appropriate recovery using techniques typical to transport aircraft. Throughout this training, you will be exposed to the effect of different g-loads and learn how to recover from nose low or high attitudes at varying angles of bank, spiral dives, stalls, and incipient spins. There is no formal test or check at the end of the training.
