Training

Instructor Rating

Freedom Aviation offers two types of instructor training courses.

Flight Instructor Course (FIC)

For many pilots, becoming a flying instructor is one of the most rewarding choices they have ever made. For some students, obtaining their PPL is a lifelong dream, but for others, it marks the first step into a flying profession. In either case, as an instructor, you can pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to the pilots of tomorrow and provide the foundations of a career in aviation.

Pre course requirements:

What does the training involve?

Flying Training

The Flight Instructor Course will give you the skills and techniques you need to demonstrate all the PPL exercises, assess student progress, and provide feedback or corrections for their mistakes. During the flying training, you will first be shown how to deliver a particular lesson in the air, before having the opportunity to act ‘in role’, giving the lesson back to your instructor as if they were a real student.

Alongside the flying, you will be shown how to deliver a thorough ground briefing for a lesson, and how to give longer presentations on theoretical knowledge. Throughout the course you will be provided with the necessary ground school instruction to prepare you for a variety of student learning styles and help you gain confidence in your teaching technique.

We run full time courses which take approximately four to five weeks, but it is also possible to complete the course on a part time basis. There is always a maximum of two students to an instructor. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be qualified to instruct a student for their PPL.

Class Rating Instructor (CRI) Course

For those not wishing to hold the full privileges of an FI rating, the CRI course enables a PPL holder with more than 300 hours to conduct type conversions, check flights and refresher training, including the one-hour dual training for the Single Engine Piston (SEP) rating.

Flying Training

During your ground school training, you will be given revision on your technical knowledge, as well as instruction on teaching technique and learning styles. You will practice giving briefings on the ground, before learning how to deliver a lesson in the air. For maximum benefit, ground training will be integrated with your flying training.
